Team Leaders

Rotech is a technology-driven group of companies providing innovative products to the offshore renewables, oil and gas, decommissioning, and energy industries from our headquarters in Aberdeen. As part of our ongoing recruitment and staff development programme, we are looking to employ Team Leaders.

You will be responsible for delivering successful offshore excavation operations, liaising directly with the on-board client representative and managing a team of technicians to ensure the reliable operation and safe launch and recovery of Rotech equipment.

Projects will be worldwide. Duty rotas are variable, so flexibility is essential. Excavation equipment spreads include a hydraulic power unit and hydraulic spooler on deck, and hydraulically driven subsea jet pumps.

Key skills:

  • Sound technical skills, with experience of working with hydraulics and diesel-driven systems, preferably offshore.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • A calm and confident approach to problem solving in high-pressure situations.

  • Liaising directly with the offshore client representative, vessel bridge team and with Rotech head office.
  • Keeping and dispatching accurate daily logs of activities.
  • Organising all aspects of Rotech’s offshore operation.
  • Attending HAZID, HIRA and other client meetings pre and post project as required.

Backshift Supervisors

Rotech is a technology-driven group of companies providing innovative products to the offshore renewables, oil and gas, decommissioning, and energy industries from our headquarters in Aberdeen. As part of our ongoing recruitment and staff development programme, we are looking to employ Backshift Supervisors.

You will be responsible for the maintenance and operation of Rotech Subsea equipment whilst offshore. You will also be involved in completing equipment pass-off tests before the project commences. Other responsibilities will include ensuring project paperwork is completed in detail and signed off by clients and ensuring Rotech Subsea HSEQ guidelines and standards are adhered to.

  • Ensuring all work is completed to Rotech Subsea standards and procedures, and in accordance with Rotech’s commitment to Health and safety.

  • Ensuring the safe and adequate performance and effectiveness of personnel and equipment involved in the various functions of the Rotech operations.
  • Assisting the Team Leader in submitting project records from offshore, for submission to the Subsea Operations Manager on contract completion.
  • Assisting with supervising personnel and equipment movement to and from site, and ensuring the process is operating safely and effectively.
  • Operating the excavation equipment to achieve clients’ burial or de-burial specifications.
  • Assisting the Team Leader with managing a team of four technicians to ensure equipment is maintained, deployed, and operated correctly
  • Supporting the Team Leader with keeping and dispatching accurate daily logs of activities.
  • Helping the Team Leader with organising all aspects of Rotech’s offshore operations.

Crewing Coordinator

Rotech is a technology-driven group of companies providing innovative products to the oil & gas, renewables, decommissioning and energy industries from our headquarters in Aberdeen. As part of our ongoing recruitment and staff development programme, we are looking to employ a Crewing Coordinator.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, individual who is willing to learn and can work well both independently and within a team, supporting the Crewing Manager with the logistical requirements of our offshore personnel, ensuring that all employees are fully compliant, trained and ready for mobilisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and schedule medicals (OGUK) to ensure all offshore personnel meet industry health standards.
  • Monitor medical certificate expiry dates and proactively book renewals as required.
  • Arrange drug and alcohol screenings as required by the company and maintain accurate records of all results.
  • Manage training bookings for mandatory safety courses and technical certificates.
  • Monitor training certificates expiry dates and proactively book renewals as required.
  • Maintain accurate records in the system, ensuring all certificates are uploaded and valid.
  • Process expense claims in a timely manner, verifying receipts against the company travel policy.
  • Assist with travel arrangements, including flights, hotels, and ground transportation
  • Participate in the rotational on-call roster to handle mobilisations or travel disruptions outside of standard office hours.
  • Arrange visas and work permits as required for overseas projects. This includes completion of applications and monitoring progress to receipt.
  • Liaise with agencies to source personnel.
  • Assist with the general running and administration of the crewing function as directed by the Crewing Manager.

Key skills:

  • Previous experience in a crewing coordinator role desirable.
  • Able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Trainee/Graduate Project Engineer

Seeking to build on successful and growing operations worldwide, Rotech Subsea Ltd is looking for a trainee/graduate project engineer to add to our team.

Rotech is a technology driven company which has been developing and providing innovative products to the renewables, oil and gas, decommissioning and energy industries, from our headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland since 1994.

We are industry experts in fluid dynamics and turbo-machinery with a particular focus on subsea tools. Our industry leading range of trenching and excavation equipment is designed, built, and operated worldwide by Rotech.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project reviews to ensure that:
    • Original project objectives are met.
    • Client requirements and expectations are met.
    • Issues including safety, environmental, operability, maintenance, reliability and quality are addressed during the project life.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure all project objectives are successfully achieved.
  • Organise and manage any 3rd party equipment necessary to carry out the project.
  • Participate in HAZID and risk assessment meetings and ensure all actions are closed out.
  • Organise and participate in internal Project Technical Reviews, with consideration given to:
    • Project equipment availability, 3rd party equipment required and cost related issues.
  • Prepare all necessary procedures for offshore operations, equipment deployment and testing. These will include:
    • HIRA documents
    • HSE plans
    • Quality plans
    • Mobilisation and demobilisation procedures
    • Subsea operations procedures
    • Inspections and test plans
  • Compile sea fastening drawings, 3rd party data sheets, operations manuals and 3rd party rigging certification to supply to clients
  • Use AutoCAD to complete deck layouts.
  • Prepare case studies for all completed projects
  • Testing and monitoring sonar equipment.
  • Assist with tracking all 3rd party equipment and sonar/subsea monitoring equipment.

Plater

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven, individual who is willing to learn and can work well both independently and within a team. The candidate should have a safety first attitude, a questioning mind and an ability to use initiative to meet and resolve challenges.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings
  • Measuring and marking out plates and sections for cutting, shaping and drilling
  • Operating plate cutting machines and edge preparation machines
  • Cutting slots in metal and drilling or punching holes
  • Oxyacetylene cutting, prepping and shaping of steel
  • Guiding cranes and hoists for moving and assembling plates
  • Tacking welding fabricated parts together
  • Able to work to fabrication tolerances of +/- 3mm

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Nat 5 Mathematics
  • Nat 4 English
  • 4 year Apprenticeship in Plating / Steel Fabrication / Structural Steel / Welding or NVQ Equivalent

Due to the continuing growth of our business, Rotech is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our technical team. You will be working both on new-builds and on the maintenance of our fleet of unique subsea excavation equipment based in our Aberdeen yard. Your work will be varied and will range from long lead-time assembly work to urgent quick-turnaround maintenance work.

All tools and equipment are provided. Occasional opportunities will arise for international travel and offshore project work, depending on skills and motivation.

Key skills:

  • Sound technical skills, with experience of working with hydraulics and diesel-driven systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical assembly drawings and accurately follow assembly instructions.
  • Ability to work well both with others and unsupervised.

Apprentice Mechanical Fitter

Rotech is seeking Apprentice Mechanical Fitters to join our technical team. You will be working both on new-builds and on the maintenance of our fleet of unique subsea excavation equipment based in our Aberdeen yard. Your work will be varied and will range from long lead-time assembly work to urgent quick-turnaround maintenance work.

You will be required to undertake and gain a job-related qualification which will involve attending a college/training facility and workplace learning with an experienced tradesman.

Subsea Technicians

We are looking for candidates who can develop to become Backshift Supervisors and Team Leaders, so are looking for people with leadership qualities.

The following skills and experience will be helpful, but we are keen to have applications from anyone who is keen to operate mechanical equipment in an offshore environment and can demonstrate an ability to learn and succeed.

Key skills:

  • Be a good communicator, with good time management and organisational skills.
  • Have some experience in Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Whilst offshore, ensuring that the equipment is maintained and operated as per the Offshore Supervisor's instructions and company procedures.

  • Potential involvement in the build of new Subsea equipment.

Training/Certification required:

  • Full Offshore Certification and Medical will be required but will be funded by Rotech.
